The Philips Universal Remote is a clean tool that can be programmed to work with just about any TV, DVD player, Blu-ray drive, set-top box or cable box.
The tuning process varies from model to model, but the conclusions are generally the same. While the indicator is flashing, click on the device lock, enter the device brand code and check if the key works.
The most common mistake is using code that is appropriate for your brand but intended for a different model. Don’t worry if you are using the wrong code. You can always try again using a different code of the same brand.
The Philips universal remote control can also be programmed to control most mainstream TVs, cable and satellite boxes using the manufacturer’s code. If you have lost the code list for your Philips universal remote control, you can enter the code here or visit the Philips website to program your remote.
1. Make sure your Philips remote control is compatible with your device.
The Philips universal remote can sync with most TVs, DVD players, Blu-ray players and cable boxes. Most of the major brands on the market are compatible, but some don’t. Check the documentation for your device, or search the Internet to see if the remote works with your device. The universal remote control usually clears the memory settings after synchronizing with 3 or more devices. If you plan to use more than 3 devices, it is recommended to purchase 2 separate remote devices. A list of compatible brands can be found in the instruction manual of the remote control. There are several code lists behind.
2. Turn on the device you want to sync with the remote control. Turn your TV, DVD player, or other device on and off. Turn on all components and wait a few minutes to start. Devices that are synchronized with the remote control must remain active throughout the entire programming process. Before starting installation, make sure the universal remote control has batteries. They don’t usually come with you, but they run on AA batteries, so it’s not that hard.
3. If the remote is old, press and hold the Settings button. Check your remote to see if there is an adjustment button in the upper left corner. If not, skip this step. In this case, I have a slightly older version of the remote. Point the remote at the device and press the Settings button. Hold for 5 seconds. When the red LED above illuminates, release the setup button. The LED may be blue, but most older remote controls use a red light.
4. Press and hold the button on the device for 5 seconds until the blue or red LED turns on. At the top is a row of buttons with a list of devices that can be synchronized with the remote control. Typical choices are TV, DVD or DVR. Click the button corresponding to the device you want to configure. Release the button when the top LED turns blue or red. If you are using an old remote control, do not wait for the indicator to light up after pressing a button on the unit. It can blink, but it cannot. Press and hold for 5 seconds and continue programming.
